English Class to be Offered

The Intensive English and Orientation Program announces a non-credit English enrichment course for international visiting scholars, faculty, staff and graduate students. It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7 p.m., September 4 through December 9. An informational meeting will be held on August 28 at 5:30 p.m. in 127 Ross Hall. Helen Jensen Named to Two NAS Committees

Helen Jensen has recently been appointed to two committees of The National Academies: the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Nutrition Standards for National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, and the National Research Council's Committee on Ranking FDA Product Categories Based on Health Consequences.

Economics Convocation

The Economics Convocation will be held on Thursday, September 4 in 368A Heady Hall. Refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 3:45 p.m. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.

Cathy Kling Named to Two NRC Committees

Cathy Kling has recently been appointed to two committees of the National Research Council of The National Academies: The Committee on Health, Environmental and Other External Costs and Benefits of Energy Production and Consumption, and the Committee on Improving Principles and Guidelines for Water Resources Planning by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Congratulations!

The Ag Business Club won the AAEA Outstanding Club Award and the AAEA Creative Idea Award at the AAEA annual meetings in Orlando, Florida. This is the third year in a row the club has won both awards.

It's a boy!

Congratulations to Stacey and Dan Noe on the birth of a baby boy! Brayden Jon was born at 7:52 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, weighing 7 lbs., 11 oz. and 20" long.

It's a girl!

Congratulations to Huan Zhao and Qiye Sun on the birth of a baby girl! Melody was born on Wednesday, July 9, weighing 6 lbs., 11 oz. and 19 1/2" long.

Offices Closed Friday

University offices will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Classes will also be recessed for the day.
