2011-2012 CAC Call for Proposals Deadline March 1

Department proposals will be due to the college by noon on Tuesday, March 1st. The college will review the proposals before forwarding them to the university committee. News Features added to Website and Newsletter

In the next week you'll notice that we're trying out some new things with our internal newsletter and web homepage. The plan is to offer more news and feature stories about the department on a regular basis. Please keep your eyes open for these additions. Student Help Now Available

We have two undergraduate students in the main office who are willing and able to help you with copying, errands, and other tasks.  They like to keep busy so please bring your work to 266 Heady.  Here are their hours.

  • Ruth: MW - 10-noon; TR - 8-9:30am
  • Rachel: MTWF - 3-5pm; TR - 3:30-5pm

New CALS Collection Point for Recyclable Batteries and Used Cell Phones

A drop-box for used rechargeable batteries and old cell phones has been set up in Room 130 Curtiss Hall. The self-service drop-box is located on the desk just inside the door for easy access, and everyone is invited to use the box to dispose of recyclable batteries and cell phones. Please note that only rechargeable batteries are being accepted for recycling at this time. Single-use alkaline batteries should be discarded in the trash.

Time to refresh bulletin boards/display cases

We're looking for some new ideas to refresh our bulletin boards and display cases throughout the building.

If you have a display that you'd like to put up, have an idea for something that would draw interest, or even a new way to bring attention to current displays, please contact Kristin Senty with your ideas. All ideas welcome!

Congratulations! - New baby girl for Juan Murguia

Juan Murguia and Analia Roca are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter Julia. Born Monday, January 24, 12:24 am, 7 lbs, 7 oz - 21.5 in.

Reminder notice --Annual requirement for Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure

  • Each full-time faculty and Professional and Scientific staff member is required, per the ISU Conflict of Interest Policy, to disclose potentially conflicting activities on an annual basis.  The COI disclosure is accomplished through an electronic process on AccessPlus, at https://accessplus.iastate.edu/frontdoor/login.jsp
