Opportunity for non-native English-speaking faculty and staff

Advanced Speaking and Pronunciation, ENGL 99S, MWF 12:10-1:00, Curtiss 208

ENGL 99S will concentrate on pronunciation and speaking skills that are difficult for advanced learners of English. It will especially concentrate on the stress patterns of long words, the rhythm of spoken English, fluency, and using intonation effectively. Participants will practice the speaking skills needed to talk to others, discuss in classes, and make presentations. Finally, all students will practice vowel and consonant sounds that help in understanding normal English speech and being understood by other people.

Because of support from the LAS Dean’s office, the class has 5 slots reserved for LAS faculty and staff who would find the course helpful. These faculty and staff are not required to pay for the course or to register as students, although they will be required to buy the course packet of materials necessary for the course. Because of the limited number of spaces, please have your faculty or staff members contact the course coordinator as soon as possible.
